Acclaimed author Michael Eric Dyson discusses his new book, JAY-Z: Made in America, a powerful examination of recording artist JAY-Z as a cultural icon, with Robin D.G. Kelley. The books charts the evolution of JAY-Z’s work and thinking, including how he has weaved politics into his music, making important statements about race, criminal justice, black wealth, and social injustice.

Dyson is one of America’s premier public intellectuals and the author of the New York Times bestsellers Tears We Cannot Stop and What Truth Sounds Like. He is the University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University, a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times, and a contributing editor of The New Republic and ESPN’s The Undefeated.

Author and historian Robin D.G. Kelley is a distinguished expert on African American studies and holds the Gary B. Nash Endowed Chair in United States History at UCLA.
