Get a taste of the streets of Bahia and celebrate the powerful force of the ocean. A group of female performers bring dance, music, and song to honor Dia de Iemanjá (Day of Yemanjá), a popular celebration observed each February throughout Brazil—and especially in Salvador, Bahia—for one of the most beloved orixás, also known as the Queen of the Sea (Rainha do Mar). In this experiential workshop, participants will enjoy a performance akin to what you might see on the beaches of Salvador, followed by instruction to learn a popular dance, song, and rhythm rooted in the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Candomblé.
